Thermal paper is a highly technical product that is specifically designed to ensure optimum image quality and smooth running through a thermal priner so BEWARE of low quality papers.
To deliver optimum performance it is essential that the base paper is pre coated to ensure an even and smooth surface on to which the thermal coating can be applied.The smoothness of the surface is a critical element of the paper and as such papers are designed to ensure there is no abrasive 'draw' on the thermal print head.When using low quality papers the primary cause of print head damage and poor print image is poor smoothness.
This smoothness,with a high white surface for print image clarity, combined with a 'lick' coating on the reverse of the paper to minimise curl and protect against atmospheric conditions,will ensure trouble free operation and protect your printer against the elements that could adversely affect the performance of the paper.
Unfortunately some companies are more interested in their own profit than you business and printer performance and use technically inferior papers with poor smoothness and brightness creating damage to the print head as well as paper feed problems.
Not only are these papers likely to create print head and image problems thay can also be up to 20% short on length meaning you have to buy 20% more rolls and change the roll 20% more frequently so do ask for a guaranteed roll length from your supplier to ensure true VFM!!
